Engage Locally
It is often easier to engage our city with others who are already doing it. The following list of opportunities are organized by people that are a part of Redeemer Church. If you are interested in volunteering or in simply finding out more information send an email to info@redeemersouth.org
Bellingham Street Ministry
A group of men and women show compassion in tangible ways to our neighbors who are on the streets. We get to know them as friends and pray for them. We are building relationships with people who have no other relationships. We are proclaiming the Gospel of Christ and meeting some tangible needs.
Lighthouse Mission
There are many opportunities to serve at the Lighthouse Mission. You can food preparation, serving and cleaning up for the residents at the Mission and people who have gone or are going through the Lighthouse Mission Program.
Whatcom Volunteer Center’s “Chore Program”
The Volunteer Chore Program is a volunteer program administered by the Whatcom Volunteer Center. Volunteers provide no-fee services to the elderly and adults with disabilities to help them remain independent in their own homes. Volunteers perform chores such as housekeeping, shopping, laundry, yard work, and minor household repairs. These simple services allow clients to stay out of costly assisted living centers for as long as possible, helping them maintain their dignity and freedom.
The Volunteer Chore Program serves as a safety net for those who do not have other resources available.
Small Potatoes Gleaning Project
Small Potatoes Gleaning Project, a program of the Bellingham Food Bank, allows low-income families and individuals to access healthy local food. The mission of Small Potatoes Gleaning Project is to contribute to a healthy local food system by distributing the bounty of Whatcom County to those in need. We glean at farms, homes, and farmers markets; harvesting produce that would otherwise go to waste. Then, we deliver the fruits of our labor to almost 30 non-profit organizations, ensuring that hungry people all over Whatcom County receive fresh, nutritious produce.
