Jonah is not a book about a great fish. It is not just a book about missions. It is not primarily a book about Jonah. It’s a book about God. It’s a book about His mercy and compassion, a narrative display of His sovereign grace. To a lesser extent, Jonah is also a book about us, our eternal need to be ruled by His strong love and controlled by His compassion and mercy. It only as we learn to delight and rejoice in the relentless grace displayed in this book that we are able to preach God’s amazing grace to this world.
