Church Planting

Emmaus Church (Portland, Oregon)
Emmaus Church is a new Acts 29 church plant in inner-city Portland, where over 85% of the residents are unchurched. Pastored by Cole Brown and Perry Gardner, Emmaus Church’s mission is to be drawn to Christ by the gospel, developed in community through the gospel, and deployed into the culture with the gospel. They summarize this mission in three words: Christ, community, culture. Within each of these aspects of Emmaus Church’s mission there are additional emphases. For example, because their mission is to be drawn to Christ by the gospel they emphasize gospel-centered preaching and Christ-centered living. The community aspect of their mission has led them to be very intentional about praying for, and working toward, a church that reflects the diversity of its community and the reconciling power of the gospel. While aiming toward the third key word of their mission, culture, Emmaus Church looks for creative ways to be incarnational and hospitable to the people of Portland. Please pray that Jesus would help Emmaus Church fulfill this mission and that He would build this local church according to His will and for His glory.
